A mural in an unexpected spot: inside a narrow shaft connected to the media and basement bar room of a newly renovated five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath home in the heart of Manhattan Beach’s Sand Section. The shaft — an emergency ladder space that connects to the ground floor — sits behind a window, making it a surprising and unique canvas. The clients, avid cyclists and runners, wanted to bring the outside view in with a creative twist. I painted a lively scene of the Manhattan Beach pier and boardwalk, featuring cyclists, runners, and their beloved Westie, Cooper, happily heading out for a walk.
